CasinoCanada analyzed the success of Canada’s gambling industry

This week, the CasinoCanada platform released a report analyzing the current state and future potential of the Canadian gambling industry for the year 2023. The data collected is based on market history, the regulatory environment and important trends in the sector.

Over the past few years, Canada has made major strides in developing its gambling market. It started in 2021, when the federal government legalized single betting on sports. Then in April 2022, a regulated iGaming market emerged in the province of Ontario with increasingly positive results. It is attracting a lot of interest from gambling brands that want to operate legally in the country.

Last year alone, the gambling industry generated more than 15 billion Canadian dollars (R$902.5 billion) in revenue, according to a report from the CasinoCanada analytics team. Meanwhile, in 2021, the local industry was valued at 12.54 billion Canadian dollars (754.49 billion rubles at current exchange rates).

Also, more than 135,500 people were employed in the sector. Other data shows that about 18.9 million Canadians were gambling in 2022. Of these, 95% belonged to the group of non-problem gamblers.

While lotteries used to be the sector’s main source of income, this is now changing. For example, slots and bingo were the leaders in iGaming last year.

Dmitry Rogalchuk, head of content for the CasinoCanada platform, said the 2023 Canadian Gaming Market Review provided important information for industry stakeholders, policymakers and users. He believes the analysis of current market trends and future prospects will help guide the rapidly evolving sector.

Meanwhile, the UKGC wants to make rapid progress in a number of key areas in implementing the white paper.
