Construction begins on Canada’s first Hard Rock Hotel & Casino

In Ottawa, after several years of delays, construction began on Canada’s first Hard Rock Casino. The work is expected to be completed in the spring of 2025. The new facility will replace the existing Rideau Carleton Casino.

The resort will have 1,500 machines, 40 table games, a bookmaker’s office, high-limit games and a baccarat room. Visitors will be able to stay in a 150-room hotel with 22 suites. Ten restaurants, bars and lounges and an 1,800-seat Hard Rock Live theater will also be available to guests.

John Lucas, chief operating officer of Hard Rock International, said: We are thrilled to be one step closer to bringing our iconic brand and rich musical history to the people of Ottawa and the surrounding area. I want to thank the provincial and municipal officials who helped us come together today. I would especially like to acknowledge the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation and the Ontario Liquor and Gaming Commission. They were incredibly supportive and helped make this possible. We’re grateful to work with them. Lucas also noted, We’re a hospitality company. We focus on food and drink, restaurants, hotels, entertainment, nightlife and by the way, we have gaming.

About 1,900 new jobs are expected to be created in Ottawa through private investment development. The existing Rideau Carleton Casino will remain open while the future Hard Rock is built.

Rideau Carleton Casino general manager Helen McMillan said, We’ve had several hours to talk to team members about what it will be, what it will look like and what it will mean to them. The excitement is definitely building.

Meanwhile, Star Entertainment is pushing the opening of Queen’s Wharf Brisbane to April 2024.
