Construction of Inspire Entertainment Resort in South Korea is almost complete

Construction of the Inspire Entertainment Resort casino complex in Incheon, South Korea, was approximately 97% complete at the end of August. Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority, the U.S.-based company that owns the facility, says the progress of the work is on track.

Earlier this year, Mohegan Gaming announced it would launch some non-gaming parts of the project in the last quarter of 2023. It plans to open a foreigner-only casino early next year.

Inspire Entertainment Resort president Chen Xi reported in July that the company first needs to get a five-star hotel rating. Only then can it officially apply for a casino license. The executive noted that they plan to launch gaming operations by the Chinese New Year holiday period, which begins on February 10, 2024.

However, according to Mohegan Gaming CEO Ray Pino, there are no guarantees regarding the launch date of gaming operations at the resort, because the brand doesn’t control them. Pino said during the company’s most recent earnings conference call in August. We have to open the hotel and all the non-gaming properties to get a hotel rating and a casino license, the executive said.

Inspire Entertainment Resort Casino will offer visitors 700 slot machines and 150 table games. The complex will also offer guests 1,275 hotel rooms and a 15,000-seat multipurpose arena.

During a recent presentation, Mohegan Gaming said the potential market size of the casino resort is projected to be 4.7 million gaming trips annually. This includes tourists from overseas as well as dual passport holders and foreign residents. The company also said it will use its player development team and affiliates to attract masses of premium and high roller customers.

Of note: The amount of tax revenue generated by gambling in Virginia is superior to theis walking the waiting line.
