Experts do not yet consider virtual reality to be a competitor for land-based casinos

At the Sigma Manila event, a panel of experts discussed the exact point at which virtual reality could impact the gambling industry. The panelists concluded that the technology is not yet well developed.

Daniel Long, Chief Commercial Officer of QTech Games, noted that operators have invested heavily in virtual reality in the past but it hasn’t worked out. However, this does not mean that online offerings are now less attractive than land-based ones.

Long believes that players have become accustomed to online gambling, largely due to the closure of traditional venues during the pandemic. They don’t feel the need to go back to land-based casinos, Long said, adding that only the best establishments will survive in the future.
