In October 2023, Macau’s gross gaming revenue (GGR) totaled 19.5 billion patacas (Rmb226.7 billion) – up 400.2% year-on-year. This is also a new record since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. The high result was achieved thanks to a strong flow of tourists during the Golden Week holidays.
According to the latest data, the cumulative gross revenue figure from January to October 2023 amounted to 148.44 billion patacas (Br1.7 trillion). A year-on-year growth of 315.6 percent was recorded. Also, the figure was almost 20 billion patacas (Br232.5 billion) higher than the cumulative result of the trillion rubles). As of October this year, the GGR has already reached the target mark. Given the strong performance, the Macau authorities have increased the expected gross revenue for 2024. According to the government’s latest budget plan, GGR should reach 210 billion patacas (Rmb2.44 trillion).
Investment bank Citigroup recently predicted that Macau’s full-year gaming revenue is likely to reach 181.5 billion patacas (Rmb2.1 trillion). That’s 62% of 2019’s pre-coronavirus pandemic levels. At the same time, the city welcomed nearly 20 million visitors in the first three quarters of the year
