The new Durango casino resort of operator Station Casinos officially opened to the public today. The festivities will last all day and culminate with a nightly fireworks display.
The 15-story casino resort is located a few miles southwest of the Las Vegas Strip. It is the operator’s seventh facility off the city’s main gambling street. The $780 million (71.3 billion rubles) project is geared more toward local visitors than foreign tourists.
Durango was built on a 29-hectare plot of landThe 66-storey Resorts World, which cost $4.3 billion (393 billion rubles). Next week, the 67-story Fontainebleau resort-casino worth $3.7 billion (338.2 billion rubles) will open in the northern part of the street. Construction of this facility has been dragging on since 2007.
Station Casinos was founded in 1976 and its history began with a bingo hall. Now it is a large operator employing over 11,000 people.
