Texas is trying to legalize casinos again

Las Vegas Sands has renewed its efforts to legalize commercial casinos in Texas. The Texas Destination Resort Alliance, in which the operator plays a leading role, has filed a petition to that effect with lawmakers.

This is not the company’s first attempt to influence Texas gambling laws. Back in 2022, it created the Texas Sands Political Action Committee, investing $2 million (R184.9 million) in an initiative to legalize casinos.

Lotteries, some types of betting and bingo are currently legal in the state. Casinos are only allowed on Indian reservations and managed by thehe commitment to providing locals with quality entertainment, luxury resorts and fine dining is emphasized. This measure will bring billions of dollars back to Texas from border states to stimulate the economy. Texans will see several billion dollars invested in the local services they rely on, said Texas Destination Resort Alliance officials.
