The new Walker’s Bluff casino resort was officially opened in Cartersville, IL. The ceremony was attended by casino representatives, local leaders and state Governor J.B. Pritzker.
The $147 million (over $14 billion) facility has a 17,650 square meter floor area. The gaming area houses 650 slot machines and 14 table games. There is also a 113-room hotel, numerous bars and restaurants, a fitness center and a spa. For meetings, congresses and other mass events there is a conference center with 1200 seats.
Walker’s Bluff in Cartersville became the fourteenth casino in Illinois and the third project to launch in the state for 2023. The Temporary in Waukegan and Golden Nugget in Danville had previously started operations there. Chicago’s first casino is also scheduled to launch in a few weeks: the temporary Bally’s facility in Medina Temple.
Tom Griffith, general manager of the casino, said, The opening of Walker’s Bluff is a testament to the dedication and interaction of our community. This facility is a source of pride for all involved and its contributions will be felt even generations from now.
