UK couple quit their jobs after winning 61 million in EuroMillions

Richard and Debbie Nuttall from the English county of Lancashire have won half of the EuroMillions jackpot in the January 30, 2024 drawing. The couple received £61,708,231 (almost 7.3 billion rubles), after which both spouses decided to quit.

Debbie, who worked in civil engineering, has already tendered her resignation, while her accountant husband has told clients he will leave his job in April.

The couple found out about the big win while on a week-long vacation in the Canaries to celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary. After seeing an email from the National Lottery, the couple first thought it was a scam and then spent a long time catching a signal to check the account. The full realization of victory came when the Nuttalls contacted lottery representatives by phone.

The couple had already started spending the money, buying new golf clubs, luxury bedding and a BMW X5 worth £128,000 (approximately 15 million rubles). Alsoand install a garden and greenhouse.

The winning numbers were 5, 10, 19, 27, 30, and the Lucky Stars numbers were 5 and 6. The second half of the jackpot went to a player from Spain.

Although Richard and Debbie Nuttall decided to quit their jobs, not all lottery millionaires do the same. Mark Gardiner, who almost 30 years ago won £22,590,829 (about 2.7 billion rubles) on the National Lottery with a business partner, is still working today. Now Mark
